Quesera sprinklers are originally Persian utensils, and known in India as gulabpash or gulabdani. The tradition of blessing with scented waters was originated from the Persian Ab-i-Pashan festival, an Iranian celebration meant to invoke rain and avoid famine. The festivity, as many other Persian rituals, was observed by the court of Emperor Jahangir (1605–1627); where courtiers would pour rose water, jujube or orange blossom scent to each other in joyful ceremonies (known as Majlis-i-Gulab Pashi).
